How to Obtain an Abortion
Women who are facing an unintended or high risk pregnancy may often choose to have an abortion. However, this procedure is not accepted or available in many parts of the world. Some nations regard abortion as a crime against the unborn child. Their laws may even prohibit its practice and those who are caught perpetrating or providing abortion may face criminal charges.
Fortunately, there are many places where abortion is legal and women have the right to choose whether to continue or to end their pregnancy because it their bodies and their lives at stake.
Abortion is legal in Florida and throughout the United States. There are many abortion clinics located in the State of Florida. We have 5 clinics conveniently located in the Orlando, Tampa, Ocala and Ft. Lauderdale areas.
Scheduling an appointment to have an abortion is a fairly uncomplicated process. Appointments are often available within a day or two. Some locations may even offer same day or walk-in appointments. Patients are required to provide medical history and sign consent forms. They will receive routine laboratory tests and sonograms performed by a physician to determine the gestation of the pregnancy. Patients then spend time with a counselor who will explain the different types of procedures and anesthesia options available to them. The counselor will also address birth control needs for the future and give the patient an opportunity to ask questions.
Once the procedure has been performed, patients will remain in recovery for a period of time that is necessary to evaluate their general condition prior discharge in accordance with the type of procedure they received. They are sent home with post operative medications, birth control samples if applicable, instructions about how to care for themselves after the abortion, including what to expect and what symptoms may require contacting the clinic, and a follow appointment for which there is no charge. Patients are provided with a 24 hour contact number for any questions or concerns they may have after the abortion procedure.
