Established in 1997, the EPOC Clinic is conveniently located in the quiet Lake Ivanhoe district just north of downtown Orlando, Florida within minutes of I-4.
The EPOC Clinic specializes in medical abortion with the use of the abortion by pill (abortion pill, chemical abortion, non-surgical abortion, RU486, Mifeprex, mifepristone), methotrexate (orally and injection) or tamoxifen given on the first day. Cytotec (mifereprex) is a prostaglandin tablet used to cause uterine contractions. It is generally given the same day or up to 96 hours after the initial abortion process is started which causes uterine contractions. The latest technological methods are used to perform medical and surgical abortion procedures from early to late second trimester, including the most advanced Abortion By Pill methods (RU-486).
We perform abortions from early medical and surgical procedures (first trimester, second trimester and late term abortions) 3 to 24 weeks. Length of pregnancy is determined by our State of the Art Sonogram (Ultrasound) for all patients. We are happy to serve Orange, Seminole, Lake, Osceola, Polk, Sumter, Hardee, Highlands, Brevard and Volusia County. Patients have the choice of regular IV Sedation, Deep IV Sedation, Advanced Technology IV Sedation, or General Anesthesia. Our medical facilities are the only ones to offer Advanced Technology IV Sedation in Florida and one of the very few in the country where the patient is able to drive herself to and from the office due to the rapid absorption and release (30 minutes or less) of the medications. The advantages are a pain-free procedure without memory recall which allows the patient to have complete privacy because it is not necessary for her to have anyone escort her or drive her to and from the office. The surgical procedure is normally completed in 3 minutes in a safe and pain-free manner. If no one is able to escort patients to the office and they do not choose advanced Technology IV Sedation, local anesthesia injected into the cervix can be used to help decrease the cramping and discomfort which generally only lasts 3 to 5 minutes.
The EPOC Clinic also provides a full spectrum of family planning services which include birth control; emergency contraception (morning after pill, day after pill, post-coital contraception, day-after contraception, or plan b); Well Woman Care; Pap smear; breast exam; prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Free urine pregnancy tests are offered even to patients who do not plan on terminating their pregnancy and an appointment is not necessary. Other services include Colposcopy, Cryosurgery, and LEEP procedure.
Vaccinations (Immunizations) can be provided for individuals 2 to 18 years old. We are also able to provide the travel vaccinations required for traveling to different parts of the world. Some immunizations must be given approximately 30 days before they are effective.
